June Chebet, Moi’s Daughter, Dead At 60

President Moi’s daughter June Chebet Moi, is dead.

The Moi family confirmed her death in a statement issued earlier today, revealing that June died at the age of 60 in her residence in Nairobi. The family has requested privacy as they cope with this tragic loss.

“We are deeply saddened to announce the passing on of our beloved, June Chebet Moi this morning. At this time of grief, we request your prayers and privacy as we the family come to terms with the tragic loss of our sister. May her soul rest in eternal peace,” read the statement.

June was the youngest daughter to Daniel Arap Moi and his wife Lena, who had a considerably big family with eight children, namely Jennifer, Jonathan, Raymond, Philip, John Mark, Doris, June and Gideon.

Jenniffer Chemutai Kositany is one of the three daughters of president Moi. She was born in 1953 and is the eldest in the Daniel Arap Moi family.

Jonathan Toroitich was the second born and the eldest of the Daniel Arap Moi sons. Jonathan passed on in April 2019 after a long battle with cancer.

John Mark, the third born to Moi was born in 1958.

Raymond Moi, the current MP for Rongai comes fourth in the line-up of Moi’s children. He was born in 1960 and has proceeded to make a name for himself in politics.

After Raymond, President Moi, and Lena had twins, Philip and Doris. Philip joined the army and served until his retirement. His twin Doris has kept her distance from the public eye.

Gideon Moi is the youngest son of president Moi and happens to be the most popular among Moi’s children. Gideon is also the most accomplished when it comes to a political career.He leads KANU, the political party his father once governed the nation with, and serves as the inaugural senator representing Baringo county.

June, the youngest and adopted daughter of Daniel Moi, chose to pursue a career in business rather than politics, and has achieved notable success in her endeavors.
