The Kenyan government is taking bold strides toward advancing electric mobility (e-mobility) and green energy adoption as part of its broader vision for sustainable industrial transformation.
As part of this commitment, Kenya aims for electric vehicles (EVs) to make up 5% of all newly registered vehicles by 2025, a key target in the nation’s green industrialization agenda.
During the launch of Build Your Dreams (BYD) electric vehicles by Lexeo Kenya, held at the Toyota-CFAO Mobility Kenya Limited Showroom in Nairobi, the event underscored Kenya’s dedication to adopting eco-friendly technologies and its position as a destination for investment in green energy and e-mobility.
This milestone further showcases the government’s active efforts to encourage sustainable transport solutions and to position the country as a leader in the green economy.
“The Government is firmly committed to advancing electric mobility (e-mobility) and green energy adoption as part of its ambitious plan to achieve sustainable industrial transformation. This initiative is in line with the country’s target of having electric vehicles (EVs) constitute 5% of all newly registered vehicles by 2025,” stated Hon.Mvurya.
Presiding over the event, Cabinet Secretary for Investments, Trade and Industry HE Hon Salim Mvurya, emphasized the government’s continuous efforts to develop supportive regulatory frameworks and infrastructure, which are crucial to driving the e-mobility transition.
“Through continuous formulation of regulatory frameworks and the development of supportive infrastructure, Kenya is positioning itself as a key destination for investment in green energy and e-mobility,” he added.
The Ministry is committed to fast-tracking the Automobility Draft Bill, a vital policy that will accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles and bolster industries tied to e-mobility in Kenya.
“As a Ministry, we will actively fast-track the Automobility Draft Bill, a critical policy aimed at driving the adoption of electric vehicles and supporting industries tied to e-mobility,” added the CS.
This initiative reflects the country’s readiness to embrace cutting-edge technologies that align with its climate action goals, as well as its determination to achieve sustainable industrial growth.
Kenya’s focus on green energy and e-mobility is positioning the nation as a key player in the future of clean, sustainable transportation in Africa.
