Kenya and Finland have reaffirmed their long lasting partnership during a State Visit by President Alexander Stubb the first official visit to Kenya by a Finnish Head of State.
Hosted at State House, Nairobi, this historic visit marked a significant step forward in strengthening bilateral relations between the two nations.
“We are committed to leveraging Finland’s expertise in education, technology, renewable energy, and climate action to accelerating our country’s transformation,” stated President Ruto.
President William Ruto led bilateral talks with President Stubb, emphasizing Kenya’s appreciation of Finland’s longstanding friendship and role as a key development partner in Europe.
“Kenya deeply values its longstanding friendship with Finland, a key development partner in Europe and a steadfast supporter of our national ambitions,” added President Ruto.
Discussions focused on expanding collaboration in critical sectors such as education, technology, renewable energy, and climate action areas where Finland’s globally recognized expertise aligns with Kenya’s national transformation agenda.
“Kenya and Finland enjoy rich diplomatic relations, founded on mutual trust and common aspirations. We will keep strengthening these ties for our shared success,” reiterated President Ruto.
A highlight of the visit was the signing of two Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) on Political Consultations and Peace Mediation and Conflict Resolution.
These strategic instruments will deepen diplomatic engagement and bolster the two countries’ joint efforts in promoting regional stability, dialogue, and cooperation on global issues.
President Stubb, accompanied by his spouse Suzanne Innes-Stubb, was later honoured at a State Banquet hosted at State House.
Kenya and Finland have maintained strong diplomatic ties since 1965, tied by shared democratic values, commitment to human rights, and a common drive for innovation-led growth.
