Kenya highly appreciates its robust collaboration with the United Nations in advancing global peace, security, and sustainable development, which are essential for tackling both international and regional issues.
During a meeting at State House in Mombasa, President William Ruto engaged in a fruitful dialogue with UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina J. Mohammed regarding matters of regional and global peace and stability.
President Ruto noted that they assessed the circumstances in Eastern DRC and acknowledged the considerable advancements achieved through the EAC-SADC joint peace initiative, which includes the designation of facilitators to oversee peace efforts and subsequent actions aimed at restoring stability.
“We also addressed the tragic conflict in Sudan and the urgent need to pursue all opportunities for dialogue and peaceful resolution,” President Ruto said on X.
“Additionally, we discussed the security crisis in Haiti and the UN’s support in addressing it,” he added.
President Ruto further expressed his gratitude for the United Nations’ commitment to assisting Kenya in leading the Multinational Security Support (MSS) Mission.
