The Public Service Commission (PSC) of Kenya has taken a bold step forward in transforming the nation’s public sector, spotlighting innovation and technology during the ongoing Africa Public Service Day 2025 at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC).

The event, held from June 10 to 12, underscores Kenya’s commitment to building a modern, efficient, and citizen-centred public service.

Commissioner Joan Machayo, speaking on behalf of PSC Chairperson Amb. Anthony Muchiri emphasized the need for a tech-driven approach to governance.

“We must foster a professional, citizen-centred, and technology-driven public service to meet the demands of a modern society,” Machayo declared during the opening day on June 10.

Her remarks highlighted the PSC’s dedication to leveraging innovation to enhance service delivery across the country.

The three-day celebration features a public exhibition of transformative innovations by various Ministries, Departments, Agencies, and County Governments (MDACs).

This year’s theme, focusing on institutional resilience and technology, marks a shift from previous events that spotlighted individual sectors.

“Innovation must be embedded across all levels of public administration to boost efficiency, accountability, and service delivery,” Amb. Muchiri stated in his message, reinforcing the government’s vision for equitable and inclusive reforms.

The event has drawn significant attention, with attendees praising the PSC’s proactive stance.

Outstanding innovations showcased at KICC are slated for consideration at the continental APSD celebration in Addis Ababa later this month, positioning Kenya as a leader in public service reform.

The PSC’s efforts align with broader initiatives like the Public Service Emerging Leadership Fellowship, aimed at engaging youth in ethical governance.

Dr. Jane Jere Imbunya, Principal Secretary for Public Service, urged full participation, describing the event as “a vital platform for institutional visibility, peer learning, and reflection on progress.”

As the festivities continue, Kenya’s push for a resilient public sector promises to set a benchmark for African nations, fostering a future where technology and accountability drive governance.
