The Cabinet Secretary for Health, Nakhumicha S. Wafula, joined her counterparts in Labour Hon Bore, and Public Service Hon. Kuria in a meeting held at the NSSF Building to advance the development of a comprehensive Labour Market Strategy.

This initiative by the Kenyan government demonstrates its commitment to fostering economic growth and job creation.

The concept was initially proposed following a directive by His Excellency the President during the second 2024 cabinet retreat.

Spearheaded by the State Department for Labour and Skills Development, in partnership with the State Department for Diaspora Affairs, the strategy seeks to enhance the labour migration value chain to propel the nation’s economy.

The key components of the strategy include the expansion of Post Abortion Care Guideline implementation, the execution of the Postpartum Hemorrhage Costed Implementation Plan (CIP), and the rollout of Self-care Guidelines for SRH.

The strategy aims to support Adolescent and Youth SRH initiatives, improve data quality audits, and strengthen the delivery of comprehensive Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) services.

“Labour Migration is vital in increasing access to employment opportunities for Kenyan job seekers especially the youths,” wrote CS Bore on X.
