Ms Rosemary Sipatan Kuraru has been appointed as the New Director of Forensic Services at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations.
She has assumed her role as Director of Forensic Services at DCI on Monday 20th January 2025, succeeding the outgoing Director, Dr. Mwangi Wanderi. Dr. Wanderi has been reassigned to the National Police Service Headquarters, where he will serve as the new Director of Human Capital Development.
Ms Kuraru, an experienced professional, took over the mantle in a brief and colourful handing over ceremony witnessed by the Deputy Director Forensic Services, Mr Anthony Muriithi, CP and heads of different sections at the National Forensics Laboratory.
“Madam Kuraru brings her wealth of knowledge and expertise to the forensic department, having served for over 31 years in the National Police Service in different capacities, having risen through the ranks to a Senior Assistant Inspector General (SAIG),” said the Directorate of Criminal Investigations.
“Up until her current posting, she had served as Director Human Capital Development of the National Police Service and Staff Personnel I at the Kenya Police Service Headquarters among other senior positions,” the DCI added.
In his farewell address, Dr. Wanderi expressed his gratitude to the heads of sections for their steadfast support during his year-long tenure as the Head of Forensics Services.
He further extended a warm welcome to the new Director, encouraging the Heads of Sections to provide her with their full cooperation and assistance in the collective effort to solve crime-related challenges through forensics.
