Today morning, Cabinet Secretary of the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Forestry, Aden Duale had the honor of commissioning a modern, state-of-the-art facility at the Markaz Al-Rashidat Islamic Education Centre in Garissa County.
The new facility, which is dedicated solely to the education of girls, underscores the transformative power of education within the Islamic community.
With the new facility, the centre will likely see an uptick in enrollment, providing more girls with access to both formal education and Islamic studies, which will enhance their prospects.
“The centre, currently with 150 enrolled students, is committed to using the power of education to transform lives,” the CS stated.
The institution combines traditional Islamic education with broader academic pursuits, emphasizing Quran internalization, memorization, recitation, and Islamic studies, alongside programs for adult education.
“I am deeply honored to be part of this transformative project and look forward to witnessing the profound impact it will have on the Garissa community and Kenya at large,” he added
The event was graced by several key leaders, including Maj. (Rtd) Mohammed Dekow, the area Member of Parliament, County Commissioner Ramadhan Mwabudzo, and Ambassador Mohammed Shidiye.
In addition, Garissa County Majority Leader Mohammed Farrah and a delegation of prominent religious leaders from the region was also in attendance.
For Garissa, the commissioning of the state-of-the-art facility signals a continued focus on improving education and empowering young women in the region.
This project represents a significant step towards empowering girls through education while reinforcing the importance of Islamic values and traditions within the community.
The center is expected to serve as a beacon of hope, transforming not only the lives of students but also positively impacting the broader Garissa County and the nation as a whole.
