Nintendo, a Japanese gaming company,  has set a new record  in the gaming world with the launch of the Switch 2.

With  over 3.5 million units globally within just four days, it becomes  the fastest-selling console in the company’s history, surpassing even the original Switch’s debut in 2017.

Nintendo of America’s President and COO, attributed the sales to fans.

“Fans around the world are showing their enthusiasm for Nintendo Switch 2 as an upgraded way to play at home and on the go,” he stated.

“We are thankful for their response and happy to see the fun they are already having with Nintendo Switch 2 as they explore new features and games that bring friends and family together in new ways,” he added.

Nintendo Switch 2 is the successor to Nintendo Switch. It  features a larger, more responsive screen and new magnetic Joy-Con 2 controller. It also has more powerful processing and graphics performance.

With the system’s new GameChat feature, players can voice or video chat with friends online while playing.

The record-breaking performance reinforces Nintendo’s dominance in the gaming industry, particularly in a highly competitive hardware cycle.

With other major players like Sony and Microsoft also pushing new models, the Switch 2’s early numbers signal a confident stride for Nintendo heading into the rest of the year.

Consumer response has been overwhelmingly positive, with early adopters praising the device’s improved processing power, enhanced display, and backward compatibility.

Nintendo’s strategic rollout, timed ahead of the summer gaming season, combined with focused marketing and widespread retail availability, played a crucial role in the console’s success.

The launch marks a major milestone in the company’s legacy and a strong statement to the rest of the gaming world.
