The Inspector General of Police, Mr. Douglas Kanja, led the National Police Service (NPS) in signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the United States Drug Enforcement Administration (US DEA).
The U.S. delegation was represented by Mr. Jason Schumacher, the Special Agent in Charge of Africa and the Middle East.
“The MoU aims to strengthen the partnership between the National Police Service and the US DEA in enforcing drug laws and dismantling narcotics-related criminal networks,” stated the NPS.
“This cooperation is essential in combating illicit drug trafficking, money laundering and other transnational crimes,” reiterated the NPS.
Mr. Schumacher was accompanied by the US DEA Country Attaché, Mr. Karl Ash; his Deputy Attachés, Mr. Mathias Walls and Mr. Scott Jenkins; International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs, Deputy Director and East Africa Coordinator, Ms. Parvathy Sankar; and the Law Enforcement Investigation Liaison Officer, Nairobi Office, Ms. Ruth Muinde.
From the NPS, the signing was witnessed by the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Mr. Mohamed Amin; Principal Assistant to the IG, Mr. Mathew Kutoh, SAIG; Director Legal, Mr. Amos Omuga, AIG; Director Corporate Communications, Mr. Muchiri Nyaga, AIG; and the Director Anti-Narcotics Unit, Mr. Samuel Laboso, CP.
