Police in Naivasha Recover Assorted Goods Stolen From Narok

Police in Naivasha and Narok have recovered assorted goods worth over Sh. 2m that had been stolen from a trader in Duka Moja trading center near Narok town. The goods were recovered in a residential house in Kayole estate off the Nairobi-Nakuru highway following a joint operation between the officers. Three suspects including a prominent Naivasha businesswoman are being sought by the officers in relation to the incident. The goods were allegedly stolen from one of the leading stores in the center but the owner with the support of police managed to track the lorry ferrying the cargo. In the last couple of months, cases of highway robbery have risen with the suspects targeting goods destined for neighboring countries.

According to Lake View MCA Simon Wanyoike Wanango who was among the first on the scene, the goods were recovered on Monday night following a sting operation. While thanking the police, Wanyoike who is the area MCA noted that the owner of the house where the goods were recovered had since gone into hiding. “The owner of the lorry that was used to ferry the goods from Narok managed to track it with the help of the police and nearly everything has been recovered.” He said. Wanyoike termed the incident as worrying and challenged police to make sure that all those involved including the woman trader were arrested.
