In a swift and decisive operation, a combined team of police units in Meru County successfully recovered 77 cattle stolen from residents of Tigania East. The incident, which involved a coordinated response and a brief exchange of gunfire, resulted in all the livestock being returned to their rightful owners.

According to the National Police Service (NPS), the operation began following a report of livestock theft at Kangeta Police Station.

Acting swiftly, law enforcement officials mobilized a multi-unit response, including officers from the local police and specialized units. Their search led them to the vicinity of Ngato Dam, where they intercepted the suspected thieves.

“Upon confrontation, the cattle rustlers engaged the officers in a fierce gunfight, but the security team subdued the suspects and secured the stolen livestock without losing any animals,” stated the NPS.

The officers, however, were able to neutralize the threat and secure the stolen livestock.

The recovered cattle were transported to Ndomuru Police Station and were positively identified by their owners.

The police have launched an investigation to identify and apprehend the suspects involved in the theft and are urging the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the police.
