The President of Kenya, His Excellency Dr. William Ruto, chaired a high-level consultative meeting with the country’s Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Equipment partners, the Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (KEMSA) management team and senior government officials.

The meeting was held to review ongoing progress towards achieving a key health sector goal which ensures a hundred percent availability of essential health commodities and medical equipment across all public health facilities in Kenya.

The meeting forms part of the government’s broader efforts to reform the national health system under the vision of Universal Health Coverage (UHC), a priority pillar of President Ruto’s development agenda.

The Cabinet Secretary (CS) for the Ministry of Health, Hon. Aden Duale on his X channel, emphasized the critical nature of this engagement, describing it as a major boost towards accelerating the country’s healthcare transformation.

“This engagement forms a critical pillar of our broader health systems reform agenda, as we align infrastructure, supply chains, and service delivery with our national goal of Universal Health Coverage (UHC),” said CS Duale.

The government has made notable strides in expanding healthcare access for millions of Kenyans.

More than twenty-three million citizens have been successfully registered under the Social Health Authority (SHA), a key initiative aimed at ensuring equitable health access for all.

This marks a major milestone in the country’s journey toward achieving truly inclusive healthcare.

“It is through such deliberate collaboration and efficient resource deployment that we are building a healthcare system that is both accessible and reliable,” CS Duale added.

He further explained that the current momentum is being driven by the implementation of the Taifa Care Framework, the government’s guiding model for operationalizing Universal Health Coverage. The framework is being rolled out nationwide, with counties playing a central role in delivering on the promise of quality healthcare for every Kenyan.

“We remain steadfast in actualizing the President’s vision of leaving no Kenyan behind in the provision of quality and affordable healthcare,” the CS affirmed.
