President William Ruto, has officially opened the 2025 Nairobi International Trade Fair at Jamhuri Park, Nairobi.

In his address, the President reaffirmed the government’s deliberate and strategic reforms in the agriculture and trade sectors, the twin turbo-engines of Kenya’s prosperity, aimed at ensuring that the hard work of farmers translates into real incomes and jobs.

“We are deliberately and strategically reforming and supporting our agricultural and trade sectors  the twin turbo-engines of Kenya’s prosperity to ensure that the hard work of our farmers is translated into real incomes and jobs,” stated the President.

According to the head of state, over the past three years, the government has achieved significant milestones, including:

  • Registration of 7.1 million farmers to deliver targeted support.
  • Reduction in the cost of critical farm inputs.
  • Investments in value addition, with a focus on Special Economic Zones, County Aggregation and Industrial Parks.
  • Common User Facilities in partnership with the private sector.

These interventions are already reducing post-harvest losses, increasing productivity, and linking farmers directly to competitive markets.

“These bold reforms are cutting post-harvest losses, raising productivity, and linking our farmers directly to competitive markets. This is the essence of the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda: growth that is inclusive, sustainable, and transformative,” added the President.

The Nairobi International Trade Fair continues to be a premier platform for showcasing the resilience of Kenyan farmers, the innovation of entrepreneurs and the boundless opportunities of a nation on the rise.
