Prime Suspect Arrested in Murder of ‘Akoko the Billionaire,’ Following DCI Investigation

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations Kibra have arrested Brian Otieno Maurice, the main suspect in the murder of Sospeter Osunga, also known as ‘Akoko the Billionaire,’ in an incident that took place on November 18, 2024.

According to the DCI Investigations have shown that Osunga was attacked by a gang.

“Investigations have revealed that on the fateful day, Osunga was fatally attacked by a gang of hoodlums in the Ayani area where he sustained fatal wounds on his back, believed to have been caused by a sharp object,” said the DCI.

Following thorough investigations, three individuals were initially arrested and provided crucial information which coupled with other intelligence leads led to the apprehension of the main suspect who is set to be arraigned in court today.

The DCI implores members of the public to embrace peace and avoid infractions that may lead to unnecessary loss of lives and disruption of peace within our neighbourhoods.

On the other hand, Detectives drawn from the Operations Support Unit have also arrested Steve Okoth Odek alias David Bett, for scamming a foreign national with a staggering USD 256,000 in a fake gold deal that involved over 500kg of fake gold.

Investigations have disclosed that the victim engaged in two distinct agreements for the purchase of gold with the perpetrator.

On February 6, 2024, the victim was scheduled to acquire 500 kilograms of gold, followed by an additional 580 kilograms on March 14, 2024, with each kilogram valued at USD 40,000.
