Assistant director of Public Prosecution Catherine Mwaniki has said that the prosecution has lined up 33 witnesses to testify against journalist Jackie Maribe and Joseph Irungu. Four of the 33 are protected while five are expert witnesses.

The two are key suspects in the murder trial of businesswoman Monica Kimani. Mwaniki added that the prosecution has secured concrete evidence including photographs and digital records in its case.

Once again Irungu was denied bond on grounds he would interfere with the investigations. Justice John Wakiaga will make a ruling on the issue on June 18th 2019.

Monica was apparently murdered in her apartment in Milimani on the night of September 19th 2018.

The trial will start on June 25th 2019.
