President Uhuru Kenyatta together with opposition leader Raila Odinga is set to visit Kisumu today for the launch of the Universal Health Care (UHC) initiative. The UHC program, which is approximated to cost Ksh.3.9 billion, targets four counties which are Kisumu, Machakos, Isiolo and Nyeri.
This will be President Kenyatta’s first official visit to the lakeside city since last year’s presidential election in which he went head-to-head with Mr Odinga.
According to an itinerary released by State House yesterday evening, the Head of State will first preside over the groundbreaking of the Ahero Interchange after which he will possibly make brief stopovers on his way at Ahero and Nyamasaria respectively.
He is also set to attend the official opening of the Ken Obura School before proceeding to commission the Kisumu – Kakamega Road at Mamboleo.
Later President Kenyatta will afterwards launch the UHC pilot program at the Mamboleo Showground and then attend the UHC luncheon at Nyanza Golf Club.
