In efforts towards restoring peace, stability, and democratic governance, Sudanese political parties, civil society, and military groups have signed a landmark peace agreement in Nairobi.

The formation of a unity government marks a pivotal moment in Sudan’s journey toward national reconciliation and progress.

Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs Musalia Mudavadi reaffirmed Kenya’s support for Sudanese-led and Sudanese-owned solutions to lasting peace.

“Kenya remains steadfast in supporting Sudanese-led and Sudanese-owned solutions, believing that inclusive dialogue is the only path to lasting peace. The commitment shown by all parties proves that unity and progress are possible even in challenging times,” noted Mudavadi.

The participants in the Sudan peace process commended H.E. President William Ruto’s principled stance, noting his resistance to external pressures and misleading narratives surrounding the Summit’s intentions.

His leadership and steadfast commitment to a peaceful resolution have played a crucial role in facilitating constructive dialogue.

The peace roadmap, signed in Nairobi, is a powerful testament to Sudan’s leaders prioritizing their nation’s future over division.

Their resolve and courage in choosing dialogue over discord set a strong example for nations grappling with conflict.

“The peace roadmap signed in Nairobi is a testament to Sudan’s leaders prioritizing their nation’s future over division. We commend their resolve and the courage it takes to embrace dialogue for the greater good,” added Mudavadi.

As Kenya continues to champion African solutions to African challenges, this historic agreement offers hope not only to Sudan but also to the broader region.
