In a well-coordinated operation based on credible intelligence, detectives have apprehended two individuals in Daraja Mbili Estate, Kisii town, who are suspected of involvement in criminal activities.
A firearm was also recovered during the operation. The Directorate of Criminal Investigations reports that the suspects, identified as Gerald Nyambarika Okumu and James Ochieng, both aged 35, were intercepted while riding a blue TV Star motorcycle with the registration number KMEK 866M at Texas Petrol Station, fully equipped to carry out their intended actions.
“A thorough search led to the recovery of a Bernardelli model 60 pistol, loaded with five rounds of 7.65 mm ammunition, concealed by the rider James Ochieng,” the DCI said on an X post.
“Furthermore, a search of the pillion passenger Gerald Nyambarika Okumu yielded four improvised metal bars designed to fire and four mobile phones, clearly demonstrating their intent to commit crimes,” the DCI added.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations has announced that both individuals are currently in police custody, where they are being processed as detectives escalate their inquiry to identify any further criminal activities associated with these suspects in the area.
The confiscated firearm, motorcycle, metal bars, and mobile phones are being held securely as evidence.
