University Academic Staff Union (UASU),Kisii chapter members have again threatened to down tools over failure by Kisii University to honor its pledge on the current Collective Bargaining Agreement(CBA).
Two months after a work boycott in May this year, the members vowed to continue protesting leaving the option of a looming strike open.
Addressing the media, the UASU Chapter secretary general, George Andima said the university had refused to pay for the lecturers’ new salaries , exam coordinators’ and professorial allowances.
Other demands were monthly remittances of Sacco contributions, medical insurance cover and acceptance of a Return -to -Work Formula.
UASU refused an explanation from the university Vice Chancellor, Prof. John Akama claiming government capitation was yet to be received and that they should wait for the students to enroll for the new semester.
According to Andima, other universities had allegedly payout the new salaries and allowances after receipt of the government capitation while Kisii university was yet to conclude the 2013-2017 CBA.
