Walter Mong’are Onchonga alias Nyambane has been dismissed from the Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs.

In a memo seen by KUTV, Principal Secretary Korir Singoei revealed that Mong’are was no longer authorized to conduct business on behalf of the state department. “This is to inform you that Mr. Walter Onchonga Mongáre, Director of Programmes (Advocacy & Outreach) is no longer authorized to act in any capacity on behalf of the State Department or myself.” Read the statement in part.

The memo however does not indicate the cause of his dismissal. Principal Secretary Korir also cautioned all director Generals, heads of missions, and all heads of the department, division, and unit from engaging officially with the former director of programmes, Advocacy, and Outreach.

“This is, therefore, to instruct you to refrain, with immediate effect, from any official interactions and/or engagement with Mr. Mongáre.” Concluded the memo.

The ex-comedian previously served as the Director and Youth Advisor to Uhuru Kenyatta, as well as serving as Director of Communications at Nairobi City County.
