The wife to the late marathoner Kelvin Kiptum, Asenath Cheruto broke down while eulogizing her husband.
Speaking during the funeral service, she gave a heartfelt message, “I will miss you, I promise to be strong for the sake of our children. I promise to make them smile in your honor.”
Asenath also revealed the big plans they had for their wedding.
“We were planning to have a colorful ceremony in April 2024, but God’s plans are greater,” she said adding that despite Kiptum’s death, she would still say her vows.
An emotional Asenath remembered Kiptum as the best husband and father to their children.
“You have been the best husband and father to our children. I clearly miss your company. We shall smile again my love, till we meet again.”
The acknowledgment for Kiptum’s children, Caleb and Precious, was presented on their behalf.
Kiptum and Asenath got married at a traditional wedding in 2017.
Their wedding scheduled for April was to be their second wedding ceremony.
Addressing the media after his death, Asenath remembered Kiptum as a humble person despite his fame.
She also remembered him as a loving, friendly, and caring husband.
She further added that he loved his children so much and did not know how to break the devastating news to their kids.
