CJ Maraga leads a five- judge bench to resolve revenue dispute

The Chief Justice David Maraga is leading a five-judge bench to determine the outcome of the Revenue Bill impasse between the governors and members of parliament.

The governors had moved to the apex court pursuing its intervention in unlocking the stalemate on the division of revenue bill 2019, after the two houses of parliament,  Senate and National Assembly failed to reach a settlement on the allocation due to counties.

The National Assembly wants all 47 counties to be given Ksh 316 billion against a proposal of Ksh335 billion by the controller of budget, a figure that was adopted by the Senate and Council of Governors. The senators now propose that the counties should be given Ksh 327 billion.
