County Commissioner expresses displeasure over slow implementation of Shs 3.6 billion roads

Nyandarua County Commissioner Benson Leparmorijo has expressed dissatisfaction over slow implementation of two roads in Ndaragwa constituency of Nyandarua County covering 106 kilometers.

The commissioner regretted that the contractor constructing the about Shs 3.6 billion Maili kumi – Shamata and Maili kumi-Ndaragwa roads had not shown seriousness in his work with less than one percent being constructed in 14 months.

The Administrator who led the Nyandarua County Development Implementation and Coordination Committee (CDICC) in the tour to access various National Government projects directed the contractor to hasten the implementation of the project noting that the committee will make a monthly follow-up to access progress.

He said that once the project was complete it will go a long way in opening up the Agriculture rich sub-county by ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery of fresh farm produce to the markets, with farmers enjoying better prices.

Addressing the committee the contractor cited a lack of payment, poor weather as some of the main reasons for the project delays.

Kenya Rural Road Authority Eng Willy Mburu however noted that the contractor had promised to fasts tract the project that was behind schedule with 20 percent of the work expected to be complete by December, 2021.

He said that the project was still within timely as the project is expected to be handed over in 2023.
