Faith Kipyegon breaks her own record

Faith Kipyegon set a record of 3:49:09 minutes in a 1500M women’s race in Paris; Diamond league on Sunday. She improved by 0.07 seconds compared to her last race in Florence on 2nd June 2023.

The records have it as she won the 1500 m and 5000m race at the Budapest Olympics in Hungary and she awaits the 1500 m and the 5000m in Paris Diamond League.

“I will do the double in Paris, in the 1500m and 5000m,” Faith Kipyegon expressed.

Kipyegon has so far won three world titles as she prepares for the Paris Summer Games. “It feels amazing to break the world record here and this shows that I am in the right direction towards the Paris Olympics,” Kipyegon said.

The world champion was however recovering from an injury.

“I have come from far because of the injury and recovering. After the trials, I knew that I was in world-record shape. I have run the quickest time in Kenya with the altitude,” the world champion added.

“It showed me that I was capable of breaking the world record again. We just tried, because everything is possible,” Faith expressed.

Australia’s Jess Hull was a Kipyegon’s close competitor who later finished second with a record of 3:50:83 minutes, Britain’s Laura Muir finishing third at 3:53:79 minutes.

“Jessica was really good. I felt that she was behind me and I had to be careful because you never know if something can happen. But I just relaxed and ran my race,” said Kipyegon.

President William Ruto in his X account has however congratulated Faith Kipyegon on winning the race.

“Faith Kipyegon has once again made history. Congratulations on breaking your record in the 1500 m race,” the head of state said.

“Your victory is a testament to the rewards of hard work and determination, a valuable lesson to the aspiring young athletes who look up to you,” added the President.
