Former KU Vice Chancellor Mourns Fallen Students

Former Kenyatta University Vice Chancellor, Professor Olive Mugenda has led the Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral & Research Hospital board in mourning the loss of the eleven KU students who passed away in a tragic car accident.

As the KUTTRH community, we are very saddened by the loss of Kenyatta University students through the road accident, which happened on 18th March 2024. This message is to convey my sincere condolences on behalf of the Hospital Board, Management, and Staff.” Stated her statement in part.

In her tribute to the deceased students, the former VC indicated that given her long association with the University, she felt a personal sense of loss and extended her condolences to the KU Council, the Vice Chancellor, and the University Community.

“As per my letter to the University leadership, the loss of these brilliant minds is a loss not just to their families but also to the country as we have lost prospective future professionals and leaders who have gone too soon.” She condoled.

She wished the injured students a quick mental and physical recovery following the trauma caused by the accident.

“KUTRRH fraternity stands with Kenyatta University and we are ready to support the students in any way we can, especially those injured. Most importantly, we pray to God to give the University and the families peace and acceptance.”

She hoped that the affected may find solace and concluded her message by quoting Psalms 34: 18. “The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”
