Harambee Stars stopper Arnold Origi switches to Norway, ends Kenyan citizenship

Despite being recalled to the national fold after over a year, Kenyan international keeper Arnold Origi will not feature for Kenya in the forthcoming friendly matches against Mozambique, Mauritania and Togo; and probably in future after he acquired a Norwegian Citizenship.

Origi recently successfully applyied for Norwegian Citizenship. Norway

Norway being the only Nordic country that does not allow dual citizenship.

Futaa.com reached out to the Fotball Kenya Federation and the governing body confirmed that indeed he is ineligible to feature for the national team and has hence been dropped from the squad.

-Yes we have learnt that the country does not allow dual citizenship and that he handed in his passport when he acquired the Norwegian citizenship. We have now dropped him from the squad, confirmed CEO Robert Muthomi.

Norway’s Høyre (Conservative) Party, the largest party in the governing coalition however voted at its annual conference in favor of a proposal to allow dual citizenship in the country early this year but other parties are still reluctant on allowing its citizens to have citizenship of other nations.
