Inspector General nominee Hillary Mutyambai before parliament for vetting

Inspector General of police Hillary Mutyambai, nominated two weeks ago to replace the outgoing IG Joseph Boinnet, is today undergoing vetting by a joint committee of the national assembly and senate.

If the joint committee will approve his nomination as the countries third IG under the new constitution the new IG will have the task of actualising the merger of the regular police and the administration police units under the National Police Service.

Mutyambai will also be required to ensure that they work together effortlessly as a unitary service. And if rejected, the president will have to forward another name for approval.
