Jackton Odhiambo has a case to answer over murder of LGBTQ activist Edwin Chiloba

Police have completed their investigations into the murder of LGBTQ activist Edwin Chiloba, whose body was found stuffed in a metallic box along the Kipenyo-Kaptinga road in Uasin Gishu. Following his murder, five suspects, including three minors, Dennis Litali  and an alleged lover named Jackton Odhiambo were arrested and arraigned in court on 9th of January 2023. The court allowed the police to detain the suspects for 21 days to allow for investigations into the case.

A team of more than 10 homicide experts led by Martin Nyuguto went to the crime scene to gather what they termed ‘reenactment of evidence’ and trace how the body was moved from the murder scene to where it was dumped.

According to state counsel Anthony Fedha, the investigations established that four of the suspects had no connection with the murder of the activist. However, investigations and evidence gathered linked Jackton Odhiambo to the murder.

“Following our investigation, we have established that four of the suspects are not linked to the murder. However, the first suspect, Jackton Odhiambo, will be charged with murder,” Fedha told the court.

Jackton Odhiambo will appear before Eldoret Senior Principal Magistrate Richard Odenyo to answer murder charges.
