Jose Mourinho blames referee for United FA Cup exit

Manchester United went one-man down towards the last minutes of the first half when midfield maestro Hander Herrera was shown second yellow card by the centre referee, Michael Oliver.

The controversial red card destabilised manchester United forcing Mourinho to sacrifice the Armenian winger with Fellaini but it was not long in the second half when Nkolo Kante score the winning goal.

Mourinho blames the referee indirectly

Manchester United coach, however, failed to respond on the red card saying that he was not interested on analysing the referee.

“We all saw the game. We can all have different perspectives but I think we all have to agree there was a match until the moment when Herrera saw the red card and there is a match after that,” said Mourinho .

“Before that I saw a game with the feeling I was going to win it because everything was under control.

“The situation was evident because they couldn’t play the way they always play. But with ten men it was very difficult for us because our strategy was to play with two players up front.

“Their three defenders couldn’t come out with the ball and they were kicking long balls and even bad long balls when we had 11 men.

“When we had one player less they went for three against one and they could win the ball and be more dominant. In spite of that they had to defend really well. In spite of that we had the biggest chance of the game when Rashford faces the Chelsea goalkeeper. So I am really proud of my players.”

Mourinho pointed out that there could have been other cautions in the game for infringements that went unpunished.

“But this season Mr Michael Oliver, a referee with fantastic potential, but with Manchester United three penalties and one red card!” he said. “But I cannot change that.

“Mr Oliver goes home and can do his own analysis because I don’t want to analyse his work. I don’t want to speak about it.

“I am just telling you to compare Herrera’s second yellow card and compare it a couple of minutes later when (Marcus) Rashford goes to attack the space and the Chelsea captain grabs him and stops him on a counter attack situation.

“So Mr Oliver gives a red card but was not able to give the yellow card. I am not criticising I am just telling you to do the analysis.”
