JSC Appoints Mokaya Frida As Chief Registrar Of Judiciary

The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has appointed Hon. Mokaya Frida Boyani as the Chief registrar of the Judiciary.

The JSC has confirmed her appointment, following interviews conducted on 18th March 2024 for the position. Mokaya emerged as one of the seven finalists vying to succeed the former Chief Registrar, Anne Amadi, following a pool of 43 applicants.

The seven candidates include Rose Macharia Wachuka, Ouma Jack Busalile Mwimali,  Mokaya Frida Boyani,  Anne Wambeti Ireri, Ndemo Paul Maina, Kendagor Caroline Jepyegen and Kandet Kennedy Lenkamai.

In a press statement dated 19th March 2024, Chief Justice Martha Koome congratulated her on her appointment. As Chief Registrar, her functions include serving as the Chief Administrator and accounting officer of the judiciary and serving as the Secretary to the JSC and the National Council on Administration of Justice.

“Following deliberation and careful consideration of the candidates based on merit, performance, and suitability for the position, the JSC has appointed Hon. Mokaya Frida Boyani as the Chief Registrar of the Judiciary for a five-year term,” Confirmed the statement.

Mokaya has 27 years of legal experience and has been a registrar for the JSC since 2012, before her appointment.

She joined the Judiciary in 1997 and served as a District Magistrate II(Prof), Resident Magistrate, Senior Resident Magistrate, Principal Magistrate and Senior Principal Magistrate. She also holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Nairobi and a Post Graduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law. She is also a Certified Public Secretary (CPS-K).
