KDF Sergeant Rose Nyawira Laid To Rest In Kagio, Kirinyaga County

KDF Sergeant Rose Nyawira has been laid to rest today in her home in Kagio Kirinyaga County.

The sergeant was among the 11 Officers on board the Huey UH-1 helicopter that crushed on Thursday, 11th April claiming the lives of eight other soldiers, including the late Chief of the Defence Forces, General Francis Ogolla.

Sergeant Rose Nyawira who was a member of the CDF press was buried as per military protocols and honors. Nyawira leaves behind a son.

A requiem mass was held on 24th April for 7 KDF soldiers who lost their lives alongside General Ogolla.

Nyawira was eulogized as a down-to-earth lady who was hardworking.

They include Sergeant Rose Nyawira,
Senior Sergeant John Mureithi who was an Air Technician, Colonel Duncan Keitany, Colonel of Operations, Major George Magondu, Pilot,
Lt Col David Sawe, Works Maintenance Officer,
Sergeant Cliphonce Omondi, CDF Security and
Captain Hillary Litali, Aide-de-Camp to CDF.

The Kenya Defence Forces released the program of their burial together with the burial dates.

So far, the Chief of the Defence Forces General Francis Ogolla has been buried together with two other soldiers; Brigadier Swale Saidi who was buried at his home on Friday 19 Apr 2024, in Kwa Kazengo Mbomani, Kikambala, Kilifi County, and Captain Mohamed Sora.

He was buried on Friday 19th April 2024, in Heilu Manyatta Ward, Moyale.

Sergeant Rose Nyawira joined the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) in 2018. She was an official photographer of the fallen General.
