Kindiki Declares Wednesday A public Holiday For Idd-ul-Fitr Celebrations

The Cabinet Secretary of Interior and National Administration Kithure Kindiki has declared Wednesday, 10th April 2024 a public holiday.

According to a gazette notice dated 9th April 2024, the public Holiday marks Idd-ul-Fitr.

” IT IS notified for the general information of the public that, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 2 2 (1) (1) of of the Public Holidays Act, the Cabinet Secretary for Interior and National Administration declares that Wednesday, the 10th April, 2024, shall be a Public Holiday to mark  Idd ul-Fitr.” Read the notice.

Idd-ul-Fitr marks the end of the holy month of Ramadhan, which began on March 11, 2024. The festivities commence with a series of special prayers called the Eid prayer, conducted early in the morning following the sighting of the crescent moon.
