Kitui leaders expect the presidential tour to resolve water and infrastructural challenges in Ukambani

President Uhuru Kenyatta is set to tour Ukambani for two days at the end of this month.
The President is expected to inspect ongoing government projects and launch new ones on June 28 and 29, in a bid to pacify the region which has been sidestepped since 2018, when President Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga sealed a deal.

Speaking during the distribution of Uwezo Fund cheques, Mwingi Central legislator Dr. Gideon Mulyungi stated that they expect the presidential tour to resolve water and infrastructural challenges in Ukambani.
According to Kitui women representative Dr. Irene Kasalu, Kamba leaders want President Kenyatta to give equal attention to their region in reciprocation to their support for the Handshake and support Kalonzo Musyoka as the next president of Republic of Kenya.

Mr. Kenyatta will begin his tour at the Konza Technopolis in Makueni County before proceeding to inspect the Thwake dam project and later launching Kibwezi – Kitui road.
