Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen has called the arrest of Arror and Kimwarer dams scandal suspects a charade.
Senator Murkomen told members of the press, “I have looked at the charge sheets and I can tell you the entire thing is a charade.” Murkomen is acting as the suspects lawyer.
Earlier in the morning, Treasury CS Henry Rotich and his PS Kamau Thugge were arrested.
Detectives also arrested NEMA Director General Geoffrey Wahungu at his home in Rukindu, Tharaka Nithi County in the swoop.
In Eldoret, Kerio Valley Development Authority (KVDA) officers also suffered a similar fate, including KVDA acting MD Francis Kipkech.
The arrests follow DPP Noordin Haji and Directorate of Criminal Investigations, George Kinoti trip to Italy to conclude investigations into the dams scandal.
President Uhuru Kenyatta is expected to name replacements for the Cabinet Secretary and his Principal Secretary soon.
