No dead person should vote ,Raila urges

Cord leader, Raila Odinga has  advised that the  first agenda for IEBC should be cleaning up the voter’s register. Speaking in Kisii and Nyamira counties during his voter registration campaign, Raila said the current voter’s roll has more than 1.5 million dead voters. Present were governors John Nyagarama (Nyamira), James Ongwae (Kisii) and Okoth Obado (Migori).

Raila said, “Jubilee used dead voters to rig the 2013 election. I want to tell them they will not succeed this time round.”

He said he was surprised when he submitted his ID to IEBC clerks at the Gusii Municipal Hall registration centre for verification of his details, only to find he shares the same ID number with a woman by the name Maria Anyango.

“This is the same method Jubilee used to manipulate the 2013 poll,” Raila said.

This comes a day after Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka found he shares his ID number with Salome Wanjiru Njoroge, 23.He criticised the outgoing commission, saying it favoured Jubilee during voter registration in the runup to the 2013 election.Kalonzo said few voter registration books have been sent to Cord strongholds.

Raila said his victory in the August 8 election depends on the people listing in the ongoing mass voter registration. He said Cord strongholds have 11 million eligible voters. Raila urged his supporters to use force if necessary to ensure they get listed.

He expressed concern about the slow pace of registration. Raila cited the Gusii Municipal Hall, where only 20 voters had registered by yesterday.

“I’m confident that if all eligible voters are registered, I will send Uhuru Kenyatta home. No trick will help him this time,” he said.

Raila said President Kenyatta has let Kenyans down by failing to address runaway corruption, tribalism and the doctors’ strike. He said the opposition has put measures in place to ensure there is no rigging.

“I will concede if the election is free, fair and credible. This time I will not come to you to say that my victory has been stolen again,” Raila said.He urged ODM aspirants to respect each other during campaigns.
