Police intercept bhang worth sh600,000

Six sacks of bang each worth Ksh100,000 were earlier today seized by police near Kyumbi junction along Mombasa – Nairobi road.

Confirming the reports, police said they had intercepted bhang worth 600,000, in six-well-sealed sacks in disguise of food in a personal car.

The rate of cannabis trafficking has been increasing at a higher rate within Kenya. Various farmers have also been planting the illegal plant together with other crops in their farms or gardens as disguise to the innocent people who don’t know how cannabis sativa plant looks like.

The victims to drug addicts according to various reports are the youths with Mombasa and Nairobi leading with the number of growing addicts.

Crying for help, youths have however in the past blamed the government for not creating job opportunities for them, saying that this has played much role to drug abuse by the youths. However, the move to rehabilitate them fully is sometimes dealt a big blow as some of the youths go back to drugs once released from rehab camp.

Apart from bhang, heroin and cocaine are among other commonly abused drugs despite the dual being expensive. The users who lack enough funds to finance their consumption have resulted to committing crimes.

Mombasa County in the past has experienced rising wave of crime in a region as gangs of youths have formed criminal cartels that have made life a waking nightmare for the residents of several areas.
