THREE FOREIGN NATIONALS ARRESTED WITH FAKE 362MILLION,GOLD IN RUIRU

Three foreign nationals have been arrested with an estimated sh 362million fake money and suspected fake gold in Ruiru, Kiambu County.

Detectives attached to Ruiru DCI offices raided the premises owned by one of the suspects at BTL area in the outskirts of Ruiru town on Monday evening where they nabbed the three; Paulin Francis Proper, 44, Njikam Omar 37 and Job Kentong 31, all Cameroonian nationals.

The sleuths recovered the money stashed in iron boxes and bags, in foreign denominations including Dollars and Sterling Pounds as well as Kenyan shillings and assorted paraphernalia including a dollar photocopying machine suspected to be used in printing the fake currency.

Ruiru Sub-County Criminal Investigations Officer Cyrus Ombati told journalists that the officers also recovered 250 kilograms of gold nuggets and 70 gold bars, all suspected to be phone Ombati said that officers acted on intelligence, that there were some foreigners perpetrating the fake money dealing in Ruiru, raided the premises and managed to nab the cache and arrested the three suspects believed to be behind the illegal business,

Ombati said that the premises, an unfinished building, seemed like a store that was being used by the suspects adding that investigations are in top gear to establish whether the suspects have another den where they print the sham cash.

He noted that detectives will also be investigating the fake money web to establish and bring to book other individuals who might be associated with the crime.

He said that the suspects in our custody will help us in our investigations and will help establish whether other previous fake currency cases that have been cracked in Ruiru are related,
Ombati averred that detectives in the region have been working round the clock to dismantle cartels engaging in money laundering and fake money dealings saying that for the last three years they have managed to significantly reduce the crimes.He added that such crimes [fake money dealings] have been managed in Ruiru. All other cases that happened before are well handled and the criminals have been prosecuted accordingly,

Ruiru detectives in February, 2019 raided another home in Kwihota village within Gatong’ora ward and seized sh 32.6billion fake money which was in foreign and Kenyan currencies. They also nabbed 70 kilograms of suspected fake gold nuggets.
