NYS recruits to get 30 per cent of state jobs – Nairobi News

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony for a digital centre/ Huduma centre in Runyenjes, Embu County, Kuria indicated that initially, contracts to establish centres such as the one they intend to put up in Runyenjes were awarded to contractors who failed to meet established deadlines.

He went ahead to assure that going forward, NYS will be awarded contracts for several projects throughout the country.

” The National Youth Service (NYS) will be contractor number one in Kenya. Issues to do with building construction, roads, agriculture, water pans, dams, cloth making for exportation and industries will be under NYS.” Said Kuria.

Kuria reiterated the President’s intention to hire 30,000 youths in the NYS. He emphasized that a recruitment exercise of 15,000 young men and women across the country had already been done through a fair and transparent process unlike how things were done before.

” Currently under my leadership, we have established that things will be done fairly and transparently going forward. You do not need connections to get jobs, the only connection you need is an internet connection.” He assumed youths in Runyenjes.

The CS also indicated that the government has planned to recruit 100,000 youths to the NYS. He added that a framework was in place to expand the vocational training centres for youths enrolled in NYS.
