Women Rep decry collapsed health care

Nyandarua County Women Rep, Faith Gitau has blamed the local county government over ‘deplorable health services’ at various public health facilities in the county. The women Rep accused the county government of allegedly failing to curb the miserable health situation at the public facilities.

Ms Gitau claimed that the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) beds to cater for the Covid-19 patients have not been operational in a single hospital in the county despite allocation of millions of shillings by the National government to the county fix health system. She said that the county government had not set up oxygen plants at its major hospitals as other devolved units scramble to increase the capacity of the lifesaving element at their respective health facilities.

This Ms Gitau said had forced the agonizing patients to travel from as far to Nakuru and Kericho to seek medical services. She decried that the Covid -19 third wave has continued to ravage hundreds of lives in the county. Reports from both the National and the county health departments indicate that the county’s positivity rate stands at 30 percent.The lawmaker has since called on the delved unit to fix the collapsed health system.The County government has however dismissed the lawmaker’s claim saying the county has done tremendous efforts to improve the health services within the county.
