A 12-year-old boy is running Donald Trump’s presidential campaign office in one of Colorado’s most vital counties, according to a new report. The boy is spending his summer vacation helping Donald Trump get elected by running the campaign’s field office in one of the state’s most populous counties.
The Trump campaign’s field office in Jefferson County, which includes the greater Denver area, is largely run by Weston Imer, 12. While his mother, Laurel Imer, is listed as the office’s official field coordinator, she told KDVR that allowing her son to organize volunteers as co-chair of the county office has been a great learning experience.
“You have a responsibility to your children to teach them,” she told the station.
Imer said that last year he was bullied at school, but now he’s planning on a future White House run of his own. Imer is responsible for gathering volunteers and helping get out the vote for Trump in the critical swing state, the news station, KDVR reported.
“Watch for me – 2040,” he told KDVR. “Barron Trump, if you’re watching, in 2040 I’ll take you as my running mate.”
Guardian US reporter Ben Jacobs confirmed he was the same 12-year-old who reportedly made threatening calls to try to convince anti-Trump delegates to the RNC to back the New York city billionaire.
According to Jacobs’ reporting, Imer made calls identifying himself as speaking on behalf of both the Colorado GOP and the Trump campaign as he encouraged support for an effort to “free the delegates” after a contentious delegate selection process.
KDVR News added that Weston Imer is first eligible to seek the White House in 2040. Barron Trump, Donald Trump’s youngest son, would remain a few months shy of the constitutional deadline.
The Constitution requires both the president and vice president to be at least 35 years old when seeking the Oval Office.
