Amani National Congress (ANC) Party Leader Musalia Mudavadi continued with his charm offensive in Nyeri to win Mt. Kenya voters even as leaders accompanying him hinted at a fresh alliance with like minded parties. As the country gears up for a transition from the leadership of Uhuru Kenyatta to another, Mudavadi said he was putting a case before Kenyans in the hope that he will clinch the Presidency come 2022. “I am putting a case before the people of Kenya and before God hoping that we shall transit from Uhuru Kenyatta leadership to Musalia Mudavadi,” the ANC leader said while attending a church service at New Life Church in Nyeri Town.
He called on Kenyans to seek and pray for a peaceful transition even as he challenged the church to step forward and guide the people systematically through prayer, encouragement and civic education. He said “transition must not be about turmoil and shedding of blood, but rather a moment of renewal of a society and people so that they can have an opportunity to move forward smoothly.”
Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja hinted at the possibility of a fresh alliance between the ruling Party Jubilee and others. “We want to build a bigger vehicle, not the Jubilee we know, not the Nasa we knew and not the ANC we knew,” said Senator Sakaja. He continued, “something good is cooking and he who has eyes can see” noting that accompanying Mudavadi in his campaign tour in itself was a sign of new things in offing.
Namable MP Sakwa Bunyasi and his Lugari counterpart Ayub Savula drummed up support for Mudavadi saying he was the best bet for Kenyans come next general elections. “The person who can bring this country together and restore the failing economy is Mudalia Mudavadi,” said MP Bunyasi. On his part, Savula said they were seeking an alliance between Mt. Kenya region and the Western Region to ensure Mudavadi clinches the presidency.
