Dr. Evans Kidero has on Monday 21 August (today) conceded defeat during the August 8/8 general elections.
Addressing the congregation during the swearing-in ceremony for the newly-elected, the outgoing Nairobi governor pledged to support Mike Sonko’s government in a move lauded by President Uhuru Kenyatta.
The incoming Govenor, Mike Sonko and his deputy Polycarp Igathe, were sworn in today at Uhuru Park.
Kidero further warned the incoming that City Hall owes the county huge amount of money, a debt that can be settled only through the national government support.
“One of the many problems that made my government fail to deliver adequately to Nairobi residents is the more than Ksh72bn debt I inherited back in 2013. I fought hard to have the government pay but didn’t succeed. May be the debt will be paid during your regime,” said Kidero.
