Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) chairperson, Wafula Chebukati, has rubbished off claims by Deputy President as baseless and uncalled for.
Wafula Chebukati was addressing claims by William Ruto that he has been holding meetings with National Super Alliance (NASA) as opposed to working with other commissioners to deliver fair and credible elections.
Deputy President made the remarks when he appeared in an interview with Citizen TV Sunday life. The DP went ahead and asked him to focus on elections and not the opposition.
“Chebukati has been having night meetings with the opposition. I challenge Chebukati to come out and deny the claims. The memo by Chebukati mirrors the demands by the opposition,” Mr. Ruto said.
“We are telling Chebukati to stop the night meetings and deliver to Kenyans a credible poll.
But through a tweet, the IEBC chair has said that the claims by the DP are not true.
“Rumors regarding my so called night meetings with NASA are baseless and reckless,” Chebukati tweeted.
