Rift In Jubilee as leaders call out Murkomen

By Irene Mwangi

A section of Rift Valley leaders have sharply criticized Senate Majority Leader and Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen for terming the lifestyle audit as a waste of time.

Led by Cheragany MP Joshua Kuttuny and Nandi Hills MP Alfred Keter, the legislators said the sentiments by the Senator are personal and are only meant to divide jubilee party and frustrate the weeding out of corruption in the country.

This is after Senate Majority Leader and Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen  on Monday termed the lifestyle audit on public officers by President Uhuru Kenyatta as a waste of time rubbing a section of Rift Valley leaders the wrong way.

In separate addresses to the media Cheragany Mp Joshua Kuttuny ,Nandi hills Mp Alfred Keter and Moiben Mp Silas Teren termed the statement by the Senate Majority Leader as a mockery to the fight against corruption in the country.

Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen claimed that the lifestyle audit didn’t have any constitutional framework and was only meant to frustrate Deputy President William Ruto’s 2022 presidential bid, a statement that has portrayed that all is not to well in Jubilee Party.

Cheragany Mp Joshua Kuttuny is blaming Kipchumba Murkomen for trying to plant seeds of discord in Jubilee Party arguing that the Deputy President himself is adamant that Jubilee party is still intact.

Since the handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Opposition Leader Raila Odinga there has been jitters in the Deputy Presidents’ camp as assertions are being made that plans are underway to scuttle the Uhuru’s 2022 succession equation. MP Kuttuny however claims this jitters and politics might spoil it for the deputy President.

Even though the Deputy President has refuted the claims of division in Jubilee party and made commitment to the lifestyle audit, the reactions made by his close allies have symbolized all is not too well in the ruling Jubilee coalition.
