2 Infants have been left at the maternity ward in machakos level 5 hospital and have been rescued by County Childrens office in Machakos and are ser to be taken to Childrens rescue center for proper care as investigations starts to know the where abouts of the mothers who gave birth and left.
Confirming the incident Salome Muthama the county childrens officer said the the trend of leaving infants is increasing for they have rescued around 10 infants this month.Mostly the kids are left in the bushes and hospitals.Salome called on young mothers to be careful and take care of their infants.She also called on the fathers to do follow ups on their pregnant wives including neighbours and the entire community.
Sally said its sad to have over 10 infants left in hopsital or in bushes yet its mid month hence cautioned the young mothers saying if one feels like abandoning the child she should talk to childrens office for help.
Dr Ancent Kituku CEC Health Machakos said that it was true the two infants had been left in the hospital by their mothers.He said that in collaboration with the childrens department they are working on how the two infants will be taken to childrens rescue centres.
He added that the Police have gotten the information and investigations have already started.He also confirmed that one infant had been taken by the Children department while the second one will remain in hospital as he was under medication.
Dr Kituku also said it was sad for a mother to give birth and leave behind the new born.
