2018 Super 8 champions league kick-off

A full treat of exciting fixtures awaits grass root football fans.

Following the culmination of the 2018 Super 8 Premier League season, organizers Extreme Sports confirms the post-season Super 8 Champions League kicks-off this weekend 3-4 November.

A total of eight teams, four from East and four from Western Conference, who finished top in the concluded regular season, will battle each other for the ultimate Champions League trophy.

“Fans and players have been asking us to bring back the Super 8 Champions League and we saw it is a good opportunity to continue engaging them this postseason. The aim of the competition is to give players an extra platform to showcase their skills and to keep the East Vs West rivalry fire burning.” Extreme Sports Operations Manager Mr. Athanas Obang’o said.

In a draw conducted on Monday 1 October KP Offices, defending champions TUK who finished runners-up in overall standing but top in the West Conference put the title on the line when they tackle Kawangware United in a tasty match-up that kicks-off at 3 PM at Kawangware BP Stadium on Saturday 3rd November.

“For us, it is another opportunity to win something. The players want to win it and we are ready for the battle. We expect every team to be at their best but we have been training even as the season ended and I believe we well prepared.” TUK coach Francis Oduor said.

In a 1 PM kick-off at the same venue, NYSA, and Team Umeme, both debutants in the post-season competition will lock horns in the other quarter final match of the day as both sides look to make it to the semis in their first time of asking.

On Sunday 4th November, Camp Toyoyo grounds will hosts the Eastern Conference quarters.

New-comers Makadara Junior League SA who settled for third place overall and second in the East will be out to make amends for narrowly missing out on the title in the regular season when they host Makongeni Sports Association (MASA). The match kicks off at 1 PM.

At 3 PM, Super 8 Premier League champions Jericho All-Stars will begin their quest for a double of titles when they play Shauri Moyo Sportiff in a potentially explosive encounter.

TUK won the inaugural edition in 2016 after beating Jericho All-Stars 3-1 in a heated encounter in front of a packed Nyayo Stadium.
