Three people lost their lives on Sunday night after a lorry rammed into 15 vehicles in Kiambu County.The accident happened after the truck ferrying sand lost control and collided with the vehicles at Ndenderu area in Limuru.
According to witnesses, the brakes of the truck seemingly failed and it continuously hit vehicles along its path including a police Land Cruiser.
“The lorry startled people when it passed over the rumble strips nearby without slowing down. The next thing I saw is cars flying to both sides of the road as the lorry passed through them before finally tipping over onto the side of the road,” explained a witness.
Confirming the incident, Kiambu Deputy OCPD Johnstone Lyambila stated that the cause of the accident was yet to be established.
“All we know at the moment is that the lorry was ferrying sand from Limuru and failed to stop at the intersection,” said Lyambila.
Several other people sustained serious injuries and were rushed to Kiambu, Kihara and Tigoni Hospitals.
This happened just a day after eight people including university students died when a car they were traveling in collided with two other vehicles.The eight perished on Friday night while heading to a party in Kisii County.
