The Nakuru High Court on 14th November, sentenced Evance Kebwaro Michori to 28 years in prison as an accessory after the fact to murder.
Michori, one of six suspects implicated in a series of murders in the Mawanga area of Bahati Sub-County, Nakuru County, on June 21, 2022, will testify as a prosecution witness against the other five defendants.
According to the detectives, the murders occurred on June 21, 2022, in Mawanga, Bahati Sub-County, Nakuru County, where four women were brutally killed in a series of robberies.
However the crimes led to an extensive investigation, culminating in the arrest of six suspects.
“The murders, which took place on June 21, 2022, in Mawanga, Bahati, prompted an extensive investigation, leading to the arrest of six suspects.On August 2, 2022, the six were formally charged with four counts of murder in the Nakuru High Court,” explained the DCI.
Michori confessed to his role in the heinous acts, admitting to his affiliation with the Confirm Gang and implicating himself in the murders of the four women.
Additionally his confession was supported by compelling forensic evidence gathered by investigators, strengthening the prosecution’s case.
“Michori’s confession was substantiated by additional forensic evidence meticulously gathered by investigators. Following the collection and presentation of this evidence, Michori’s defence team negotiated a plea bargain agreement with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) in Nakuru,” stated the DCI.
The court accepted the plea deal on November 14, 2024, resulting in Michori’s 28 year sentence for being an accessory after the fact of murder.
His testimony is expected to provide critical insights and evidence in the upcoming trial of the remaining defendants, as the prosecution seeks to secure justice for the victims and their families.
