According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), their arraignment followed a car chase by anti-drug officers who were working on a tip-off.

The suspects,a 38-year-old Samuel Baraza Nyongesa and Lawrence Onyango Asindi were intercepted at Kitanga village in Machakos County, having escaped a police dragnet at Lari flyover within Kiambu county.

On searching the black Toyota Noah registration number KDN 218A in which the suspects were driving, the bhang estimated at Sh 7.5 million in street value was found inside the Toyota Noah.

“The seizure has been detained at DCI Headquarters awaiting further processing even as the suspects await arraignment,” stated the DCI.

The DCI, in their fight against organised crime that supports large-scale drug trafficking, are strengthening their efforts to direct the investigation to its financial network, through national cooperation mechanisms between justice and security institutions.
